Hey, I’m Missy.

I help small businesses and entrepreneurs tell their stories through meaningful visual experiences.

Growing up, one of my favorite questions was “why?”

Why are things the way they are? Why does that thing work like that? Why does that person do that? Why do we just accept the way things are done? As I entered my teen angst years, my Why’s expanded and became Why Not’s. “We don’t do things like that…” Why not? “You can’t do that.” Why not?

(This personality trait was not looked at as particularly endearing to most adults in my life…)

This passion for ‘Why’ led me to start on the path of becoming a Child Psychologist. But after some time, (and taking all of the “fun” psychology classes the college offered) I knew my tender heart couldn’t handle that level of emotionally heavy work without it leading to a near 100% probable mental breakdown and burnout. I also don’t like red tape. The ‘why’ child in me would not do well dealing with insurance companies and bureaucracy…..

I lived some life, and had three adorable little children who began asking their own Why’s. In watching them discover the world and question things, it awakened my Why. In that awakening, I discovered my love for design and marketing. What is design and marketing if not a mix of psychology and a ‘Why Not?’ attitude?

Why does that look good? Why does that look bad? Why did they choose that font? Why CAN’T you name your business Dilly Dally Deli and have a pickle as your logo?

I believe that things should make sense. Oftentimes design can feel clunky and chaotic- and in my experience, focusing on the ‘why’ of any type of project leads to a clean, concise and successful result. Good design should just feel right. While I try to take a scientific and pragmatic approach to design, I am most guided by my intuition. Things must feel right.

I started working with small businesses- who are so connected to their Why’s- and I’ve helped them build their brands. The Why is one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves- as well as Why Not.

Being able to connect with people and discover their Why’s, and being able to bring their visions to life has become my Why. With a healthy dose of ‘Why Not?’ I’ve been able to think outside the box and create truly fun and original work that sets them apart from the crowd, while representing THEM. Not what trends, best practices or the competition dictates they should be.

We all shine best when we are ourselves, and my goal is to help you discover your Why, and bring it to life.

Why not?
